Chair of Trustees – UK

Back in 2012 Megan, then a professional dancer, founded Awareness Through Dance, which became Move The World in 2016. She has always been passionate about creating experiences for people to learn about themselves and the world – and does so in her job as a Leadership Development Practitioner with RISE Beyond, with Move The World and with her family and friends.Megan brings her vision and strategic insight to the team of Move The World and supports the UK & Ghana teams with planning and ensuring we are continuously pushing the boundaries for what we can do together. The Move The World team and community of facilitators of schools bring much joy to her life and she is proud of what they have created together over the years and for what could come in the future.

Alyssa Simon

Alyssa Simon has been a member of the board of trustees since 2018. A former teacher and alumni of Teach for America, Alyssa is passionate about providing quality education to children all over the world and brings her prior experience in curriculum development, student engagement and data analysis to Move the World.
Alyssa is currently based in New York and is an executive director in the leveraged finance team at Morgan Stanley, and where she is also a volunteer for JumpStart, one of the firm’s marquee diversity outreach and financial literacy programs for high school students. Prior to working at Morgan Stanley, Alyssa was an associate in the London corporate team of the law firm Latham & Watkins, where she also served on the global recruiting committee and was active in various firm pro bono matters.

Emmanuel Mumuni

Emmanuel Mumuni is a Digital Economy Advisor and the National Coordinator of ‘Make-IT in Africa’ under GIZ Ghana. As an entrepreneurship ecosystem builder, he believes in the potential of entrepreneurship in achieving many of the SDG goals.

Emmanuel previously worked as the Ghana Director of Move the World and saw the beginning of the Get Global Programme in Ghana. The most compelling SDG goals to him are goals 1, 4, 5 & 8.

The Get Global Programme brings the global citizen out of every engaged person. Students, facilitators, teachers, programme directors and Papa Moses are all impacted in a profound way.

Kellie Lucas

Kellie passionately believes in the power of people, connection and community. She spends her professional, personal and charitable time supporting individuals and teams to become their true authentic, genuine and powerful selves. She was Director of a child’s rights anti-trafficking/anti-slavery Ghanaian NGO, living in Ghana, when she met Claire and was delighted to be asked to join the Board of Trustees on her return to the UK in 2018. She is inspired daily by the energy, commitment and authenticity of the MTW team in the UK and Ghana. In particular, she is in awe of the loyalty, partnerships and development their presence and programmes inspire in every single person, school and community they touch. Alongside being a Trustee for Move the World, Kellie is an author, consultant, coach and mentor specialising in the evolving business imperative of Customer Success, which she believes will result in the world doing better business and being authentic and powerful global citizens.

Abigail joined the board in July 2020. She brings a wealth of experience from the not-for-profit and public sectors having worked in business and service development for over 17 years. Currently a Director at a community development trust in Greenwich with a focus on developing Commercial and Philanthropic Partnerships, she is committed to supporting work that gives people the space and support to see and develop the unique skills and talents that they have; work that ignites potential and empowers people to live their best lives.A proud Ghanaian, Abigail is truly inspired by Move The World and the creative dynamism it brings to education and sustainable development in an evermore interconnected world

Chris joined the board of trustees in July 2020. Chris had an 11 year teaching career where he undertook a number of pastoral roles and most recently worked as an Assistant Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form in a school in Hertfordshire. Chris is passionate about innovative, inclusive and skills focussed education.Chris is currently Senior Programme Manager at the Peter Jones Foundation where he leads national programmes of enterprise and entrepreneurship throughout schools and colleges within the UK. His role allows him to assist students in starting up their own businesses through a mixture of skills based learning and financial support.

Naa Ayorks Aryeetey

Naa Ayorkor Aryeetey is an easy going person who loves to see young people be the best version of themselves. She is a medical doctor by profession and also has a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Being an active member of World Merit Ghana in the early days of her medical practice gave her a wealth of experience in child right advocacy . As a person who is passionate about the delivery of quality health care, she was a member of the Global Task Force that partnered with World Merit Cameroon to enable young people have access to locally produced hand sanitizers. Naa is inspired by the energy and commitment with which MTW is impacting the lives of young people and is glad to be part of the team

Prince Adu-Appiah

Prince is a Leader, a Speaker, a Development Worker, an Entrepreneur and a Tech Consultant with a passion to raise leaders and help eradicate poverty in Africa. He is Founder and CEO of 1Billion Africa (www.1billionafrica.org) – a nonprofit movement that inspires and empowers Africa’s youth to find problems in their communities and turn them into projects.Having discovered his passion for Africa, true Leadership, and love for humanity at age 18, Prince began building capacity by serving the underprivileged through volunteerism, while investing time in youth empowerment. In 10 years, he has led over 45 teams, spoken to 35,000+ people in 10 countries, and attracted many local and global honours.Prince is a certified Myles Munroe mentee, a 2-time TEDx Speaker, a 2017 Kumvana Fellow, a 2016 Brightest Young Minds alumnus, an Ashoka Changemakers Scholar, and an Associate Fellow at the Royal Commonwealth Society. He holds an MA from the University of Ghana Business School in Organizational Leadership & Corporate Governance and is happily married to Georgia and with a son, Myles.

MamiSerwaa believes in a world where men, women and children operate in confidence and in their abilities. MamiSerwaa brings to the board her passion for people and business development. As curator of “Finding the Person Called Me,” a self-discovery program and workbook she has been working with individuals to build their self-awareness and put together a game plan to start living the life they desire. Her life’s mission is to work with individuals and businesses who want to push themselves to do more by drawing inward to express, build and grow. She currently works with Ghana Enterprises Agency as the Project Coordinator for the Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship component under the GEA/Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works Project.

Lawrencia is a friendly, easy-going person with a lot of playfulness and love for children. With an MA in International Social Development, she is also a trained Gender Specialist from a UK University.Lawrencia has vast experiences in empowering young adults, girls and mothers. She advocates for children’s right to education, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and campaigns against child labour and early marriages.She volunteered at Uganda Hands for Hope where she taught children with disabilities and supported them to acquire self-help skills. This was a fulfilling experience for her and a turning point in her life to finally realise where her passion lies.Being a part of Move the World, she looks forward to developing her leadership skills and to make life-changing impacts in the lives of the children we work with.Whenever Lawrencia is not around children or working on people-centred projects, she is either reading, exploring new places or mixing up DIY recipes.

I respond to the name, Margaret Osei. A very dedicated, skilled and motivated young woman among 2 siblings.Margaret grew up in a Sub Urban community with other young women who always love to work together to create change around them.She loves to travel, dance, listen to music, read, farm, bake, share challenges and find solutions, among other skills that seek to bring development for young women. She is a team player, goal-oriented, problem solver, a facilitator and a trainer. Margaret has volunteered for the past 5 years within communities and with public and private organizations having common interests in development.She is currently volunteering as a lead facilitator with Move The World on the Get Global Education Programme to train and build capacities of young people on the Sustainable Development Goals. She believes this will facilitate skilled and motivated young people to become role models who will be there to create change in the community and the world at large.

Michael Woma

Michael Woma graduated from Amasaman Senior High studying Visual and Performing Arts in 2013. After school, he found comfort in being with people who are concerned and interested in learning more about what they can do to help in the development of their community which made him actively volunteer with Move The World through organizing the Move The World Quiz.  His interest in community development has seen him organizing, executing and supervising community development programs on the grounds of Medie, Ghana. His ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds and highly adaptable to different working conditions, he was employed by Bernard Woma as the Operations and Logistics Manager at the Dagara Music and Art Center.  He served as a liaison between the DMC director and visiting participants for an average of 10 yearly study abroad programs hosted by the Dagara Music and Art Center also plan and lead students on excursions throughout the country.

Habiba Abdallah

Habiba is an energetic, passionate and affable person and has young people and social change at heart. She is the ‘Children’s favourite’!An avid IT enthusiast, a Level 200 IT student at the University of Professional Studies Accra, she aims to build the capacity and harness capabilities of generations through IT and counter world pressing issues and to boost development.As part of her quest for gender equality, young people’s participation in development and fulfilling Agenda 2030 (SDGs) she’s currently a lead facilitator with Move The World (Get Global Programme) in Ghana.She is a global citizen, trainer and facilitator with diverse experience in advocacy, activism, campaign and youth empowerment.As an avid cross country traveller, Habiba is mostly immersed in her computer when not seen in school, on the field facilitating or travelling.

I am Emmanuel Woma from a village called Filemon in the Upper West Region of Ghana and I currently live in Medie.  I completed  Amasaman Senior High Technical School where I offered General Arts. After completion of school, I joined Saakumu Dance Troupe as a dance performer. I am also a Ghanaian African dance teacher at the  Dagara Music and Arts Center. I joined Move The World to be a Get Global Facilitator because I want to be actively involved in community development. I am excited about the role as a  Get Global Support Facilitator because I see it as an opportunity to contribute more to my community. I wish to educate people about what the SDGs are all about and what they do. I believe hard work is the means through which one can attain whatever goals they have in mind. I like playing drums, dancing, listening to music, watching television or playing computer games and also love to make new friends wherever I find myself.

Adjectives alone cannot describe this team of amazing young men and women whom with passion and dedication, spend time and resources designing programmes to shape our future leaders to be problem solvers. They make us realise every problem in the community has its solution within the same community.

At the heart of MTW is addressing developmental issues, and these are impacted to younger ones through the Get Global Programme which makes complex and complicated issues look simple to interact with. In MTW, problem-solving is made pragmatic as possible.

My name is Alex Agbedu, but affectionately called Lexis. I am a graphic designer, a student and a volunteer. Sarah Asiedu is a teacher by profession, trainer, peer educator and a coach. For 13 years she has been working towards creating a social change. She is a former YALI AFRICA, 2016 fellow and later shortlisted for Mandela Fellowship the subsequent year.Sarah is a community leader at the district assembly level of Ga West -Kutunse Electoral Area. Sarah believes in leveraging opportunities for all irrespective.

Claire is passionate to bring people together; she loves the community Move the World has grown and aims to keep bringing more Global Citizens on board.Born in Canada, Claire lived her first part of life as a professional dancer which took her around the world eventually living in Namibia for a short period and then finally landed in the UK to stay.Claire believes in the youth of today- she believes they have the ability to make some big changes that our world needs. She gets excited to see Get Global sessions being run by incredible facilitators and all the comments – intellectual and funny- from the students partaking.Ghana is Claire’s second home- its a country that has opened its arms to her since her first trip in 2015. Since then she is the team member with the most visas in her passport and plans to keep it that way!

Introduced to Megan and Claire through the UK dance industry; Caroline, always up for an adventure, took a chance to go to Medie, Ghana for 3 weeks back in March 2016 and hasn’t looked back. Engaging in fundraising to help support Move The World’s projects has seen her summit Mount Kilimanjaro and lead her to the engaging and highly rewarding role of Project Manager.Her passion to see others grow and excel comes alive through her work for Move The World as she supports our facilitators through training and delivery of our Get Global Programme. She is proud to be part of this international team and the work and opportunities being created. Caroline has a weird love of Risk Management and is glad that the others let her revel in this!

Natasha Adomako

Natasha was born and raised in South East London and has a love for all things creative. She has a BA in Dance Making and Performance and it was during her degree that her desire to become more connected to her Ghanaian roots led her to Move The World. Starting out as an intern in 2016, she quickly filled her admin duties; learning different skills on the go at a pivotal time during the launch of Move The World and officially joined the team as her internship was coming to an end. During this time, she accidentally fell into the social media world.Labelled as the ‘Social Media Queen’, Natasha took care of the day-to-day posting across Move The World’s social networking sites and learnt new ways in which to engage people in MTW’s work.Inspired by the rich community MTW created in Ghana with the next generation,  Natasha now shares this passion as a primary school teacher in London.

Wonu joined Move the World in October 2021 as our Fundraising Manager. Wonu is a strong believer in the power of education to change the world. She believes that through education, children can not only transform their lives by having the tools to reach their full potential but also transform their communities encouraging greater positive societal change. Wonu’s interest in fundraising and the not-for-profit sector started in her youth where shevolunteered for international charities such as Oxfam, UNICEF UK, and Christian Aid. Over the past decade, she has built considerable experience working in external fundraising for a range of NGOs. She is really excited about spreading the word about Move the World and supporting our efforts to develop new partnerships.

Fugah Israel is an IT Professional and Entrepreneur with diverse experiences in digital marketing, corporate branding, project management and business intelligence. His exceptional leadership and team playing skills have carved out for him rare opportunities to lead, facilitate, influence and assist in great initiatives like 1 Billion Africa and Move The World, where he currently volunteers as the Media and Partnership Director and the Support Facilitator for the institution’s flagship project – Get Global Programme.  He was a Google Scholar recipient, a member of the Facebook Community Leadership Circles – Accra and currently a participant of Y-Combinator’s Start-up School programme.  In the long term, his vision is to contribute directly and indirectly to raising young entrepreneurs across the continent, creating sustainable and global businesses that address challenges, create employment and decrease poverty massively.  For Israel, the Get Global Programme is unique as he gets the opportunity to interact and train the next generation of global leaders as a Support Facilitator.

A highly spirited young man with strong zeal and passion to promote world peace by enhancing global living. Benjamin Hayford Adu has extensive experience in social entrepreneurship for about 8 years. He has worked with several international organizations such as 1Billion Africa in the area of promoting the SDG’s and youth entrepreneurship, Solidaridad West Africa basically research based Ghana and several others. Promoting education and good health in deprived communities in Ghana cannot be left. Benjamin has led several social change programs and has partnered with several institutions in changing lives such as NHIA, The Virtuous Pot, National Service Association of Asutifi district, Newmont Ghana – Ahafo and several others.Benjamin has some experience in the corporate sector by working for 5 Star Engineering Ltd as the Procurement and Logistics Manager for 3 years. Benjamin seeks to promote good living and create an enabling environment for young ones by getting them global and enhancing global living.

Celestine has an extensive and diverse experience working with Non-Governmental and Civil Society Organizations ranging from roles such as data analyst, social media officer, monitoring and evaluation officers, and data enumerator.Celestine started his career as a primary school teacher in a community primary school (Rich Preparatory school) located in Accra, Ghana. He went on to become a teaching and research assistant at the University of Ghana.Celestine Chime holds a Masters in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness from the University of Ghana, Legon.Celestine has a passion for the youth and development. He has worked with several developmental agencies such as Solidaridad West Africa, International Food Policy Research Institute, and Innovation for Poverty Action. In addition, he has volunteered with Non-Governmental Agencies based in the country, these include 1 Billion Africa, Child crest foundation and the NOJA’s initiative amongst other personal social interventions.

A Ghanaian cultural dancer who loves all forms of art and always willing to share whatever skills he’s blessed with.Working with MTW in his community has been a joyful journey and still is for him. Mostly all the kids in his community know him now and have a special name for him “obroni papa”, please don’t ask for the meaning here haha but join the UK team on their adventurous trips to Ghana and he is willing to tell you what that means and many more!Learning something new is always a big YES for him and as the future is untold, he likes to roll with the smooth flow of nature.NAMASTE!

Benjamin Hayford Adu

Ben has been involved with Move the World since 2015 when we ran a collaborative Community Day with 1 Billion Africa, one of our partner organisations. Since then Ben has been involved with numerous projects for MTW and many collaborative programmes including a Young Leaders Retreat, Ammambr3, and Tech2Orphans. We are so happy to have him officially on board as a Get Global Facilitator now- here’s his story.

His story:Doing what you love doing best is one of the easiest way to achieve satisfaction and total emancipation. I have been a beneficiary of some of Move The World Training programs throughout the years and I bet you it has really impacted me positively.MTW gives you the space to be your self whiles reaching your capabilities. I had the chance to meet like-minded people who are ever ready to share, learn, play and eat with me.As a young man with the passion to transform my society and help raise peoples standard of living, Move The World was one of my major springboard to achieving that dream.Enrolling as Move The World Facilitator this year has been one of my greatest wins in 2020. It has placed me in an environment where I have discovered and recovered some of my God given potentials. It has given me the opportunity to learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals and impact it into the younger generation of the Medie Community.With the kids, the joy on their faces during class time is more than enough motivation and satisfaction.  It has not only benefited the people of Medie community but my immediate family. They are now more conscious of the SDGs and doing everything they need to do to promote it.
